Backwater-
Located at the southeast corner of Webster Lake, one mile south
of North Webster, the Backwater covers 60 acres with a sand bottom,
maximum dept of 40 feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal
game fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills, perch and
sunfish.
Beaver Dam Lake - One mile east of Beaver Dam in the southwest
portion of the county, Beaver Dam Lake covers 150 acres with a
sand bottom, maximum depth of 75 feet and average depth of 20
feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass,
pike, walleyes, bluegills, crappies and sun fish. One of a chain
of lakes running from Silver Lake to Palestine, Beaver Dam Lake
is spring fed and noted for good-tasting fish.
Beigh Lake - Three and one-half miles east of the town
of Silver Lake, Beigh Lake covers 40 acres with a muck bottom,
a maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal
game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and crappies.
Benton Lake - Smallest of the Barbee chain, Benton Lake
lies between Irish and Shoe lakes covering 15 acres with a muck
bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 20 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass, pike, perch
and crappies.
Big Barbee Lake - Largest of the 11 lakes that comprise
the Barbee chain, Big Barbee Lake covers 275 acres with a marl
bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet and average depth of 30 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass, pike, bluegills,
perch, crappies and sun fish.
Big Chapman Lake - Five miles northeast of Warsaw, Big
Chapman Lake covers 420 acres with a combination muck and marl
bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet and average depth of 30 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills, perch, crappies
and sun fish.
Black Lake - Just east of North Webster, Black Lake lies
between Webster Lake and the Village of Wilmot covering five acres
with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth
of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass bluegills,
and crappies.
Boner Lake - Two miles east of Syracuse, Boner Lake covers
17 acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet and average
depth of 30 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills
and crappies.
Cadwell Lake - Two miles west of Claypool, Cadwell Lake
covers 50 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet and
average depth of 35 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills, perch and crappies.
Carr Lake - Located two and one-half miles northeast of
Claypool, Carr Lake covers 135 acres with a marl bottom, maximum
depth of 90 feet and average depth of 30 feet. Principal game
fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills, perch, crappies and sun
fish.
Little Carr Lake - Three miles northeast of Claypool, Little
Carr Lake is also known as Reeds Lake and covers 5 acres with
a marl bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 18
feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and
crappies.
Center Lake - Three blocks north of the Kosciusko County
courthouse in Warsaw, Center Lake covers 130 acres with a sand
and gravel bottom, maximum depth of 80 feet and average depth
of 40 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills
and crappies. A park with tennis courts, pavilion picnic area
and sandy bathing beach is maintained on the south side of Center
Lake by the City of Warsaw.
Crystal Lake - Five miles west of Warsaw, Crystal Lake
covers 75 acres with a marl bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and
average depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, pike, bluegills and crappies.
Daniel Lake - One of the Barbee chain, Daniel Lake covers
20 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 30 feet and average
depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills,
perch and crappies.
Dewart Lake - Twelve miles northeast of Warsaw, Dewart
Lake covers 700 acres with a marl bottom, maximum depth of 60
feet and average depth of 25 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, pike, bluegills, perch, crappies and sun fish.
Dewart Lake is also the home of Camp Ella J. Logan, operated by
Girl Scouts of America, and Quaker Haven, a retreat operated by
the Friends church.
Dream Lake - Located five miles south of Warsaw, Dream
Lake covers 15 acres with a muck covered marl bottom, maximum
depth of 35 feet and average depth of 18 feet. Principal game
fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass and bluegills.
Goose Lake - Three miles southwest of Warsaw, Goose Lake
covers 50 acres with a gravel bottom, maximum depth of 25 feet
and average depth of 15 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, bluegills and crappies.
Grindle Lake - One in a group of lakes between North Webster
and Indian Village, Grindle Lake covers a mer five acres with
a sand bottom, maximum depth of 30 feet and average depth of 20
feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and
sun fish.
Hammond Lake - Four miles northeast of North Webster, Hammond
Lake Covers five acres with a sand bottom, maximum depth of 40
feet and average depth of f25 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass and bluegills.
Heron Lake - One of the Barbee chain, Heron Lake is located
three miles south of North Webster and covers 30 acres with a
muck bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 30
feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills
and perch.
Higgins Lake - Located two miles west of Silver Lake, Higgins
Lake, also known as McClure Lake, covers 25 acres with a marl
bottom, maximum depth of 35 feet and average depth of 17 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills
and perch.
Hoffman Lake - A mile northwest of Atwood, Hoffman Lake
covers 20 acres with a marl bottom, maximum depth of 75 feet and
average depth of 30 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills and crappies.
Huff Lake - Located 10 miles southeast of Warsaw between
Stevens and Sellers Lakes, Huff Lake covers 20 acres with a mud
bottom, maximum depth of 30 feet and average depth of 15 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and crappies.
Irish Lake - Another of the Barbee chain, Irish Lake is
located on 175 acres northeast of Warsaw. It has a sand and marl
bottom, maximum depth of 45 feet and average depth of 30 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills, perch and
sun fish.
James Lake - More commonly known as Upper or Little Tippecanoe
Lake, James is one of the Barbee chain covering 240 acres located
two miles west of North Webster. It haws a sand and gravel bottom,
maximum depth of 70 feet and average depth of 30 feet. Principal
game fish are large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass, bluegills, crappies
and sun fish.
Jamieson Lake - Located one mile southwest of Claypool,
Jamieson Lake covers five acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth
of 20 feet and average depth of 10 feet. Principal game fish are
large-mouth bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Johnson Lake - Also known as Sherben Lake, Johnson is located
10 miles southeast of Warsaw on 12 acres with a sand and gravel
bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet and average depth of 30 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and crappies.
Keller Lake - Located three miles south of Warsaw on five
acres, Keller Lake has a mud bottom with a maximum depth of 40
feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large
motuh bass and bluegills.
Keyser Lake - Nestled between Black Lake and Wilmot, Keyser
Lake covers five acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 40
feet and average depth of 25 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass and bluegills.
Kuhn Lake - This shallow lake is another in the Barbee
chain and lies just east of Big Barbee and south of Heron. Kuhn
Lake covers 40 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 20 feet
and average depth of 12 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, pike, bluegills, crappies and sun fish.
Lake Wawasee Located in the northeast part of Kosciusko
County, Lake Wawasee covers 2, 720 acres with a sand bottom, maximum
depth of 85 feet and average depth of 12 feet. Principal game
fish are large-mouth bass, small-mouth and rock bass, pike, walleyes,
bluegills, crappies, perch and sun fish. Wawasee is 870 feet above
sea level with a number of sunken islands and all varieties of
fish common to Northern Indiana lakes. Wawasee is Indiana's largest
natural lake.
Larrew Lake - Four miles southeast of Warsaw, Larrew Lake
covers five acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 30 feet
and average depth of 10 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Little Lake - Adjoining Silver Lake on the north, Little
Lake covers 10 acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 47 feet
and average depth of 17 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Little Barbee Lake - Located between Big Barbee and Irish
Lakes in the Barbee chain, Little Barbee covers 40 acres with
a mud bottom, maximum depth of 35 feet and average depth of 15
feet. Principal game fish are large mouth bass, pike, bluegills
and sun fish.
Little Chapman Lake - Covering 150 acres with a muck bottom
five miles northeast of Warsaw, Little Chapman Lake has a maximum
depth of 50 feet and average depth of 25 feet. Principal game
fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills, perch and crappies.
Loon Lake - Five miles west of Silver Lake, Loon Lake covers
43 acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet and average
depth of 30 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills
and crappies.
McPherson Lake - This lake is due for an identity crisis
with three possible names, McPherson, Shelly or Fawley. It is
located seven miles southeast of Warsaw on five acres with a mud
bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 16 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and crappies.
Mock Lake - Located just south of Shock Lake, north of
North Webster, Mock Lake covers eight acres with a mud bottom,
maximum depth of 50 feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal
game fish are large-mouth bass, calico bass, bluegills, crappies
and sun fish.
Mud Lake - Located three miles northwest of Silver Lake
on 75 acres, Mud Lake, as its name suggests, has a mud bottom.
Maximum depth of the lake is 53 feet, and the average depth is
30 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, rock bass,
bluegills, crappies and sun fish.
Mud Lake - A second Mud Lake in Kosciusko County is located
on 22 acres three miles north of Pierceton. It also has a mud
bottom with a maximum depth of 46 feet and average depth of 15
feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and
sun fish.
Muskelung Lake - Located just west of Dream Lake, Muskelung
is five miles south of Warsaw and covers 21 acres with a marl
bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 20 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, pike, bluegills and
crappies.
Palestine Lake - Located four miles east of Mentone, Palestine
Lake covers 400 acres with a sand bottom, maximum depth of 75
feet and average depth of eight feet. Principal game fish are
large-mouth bass, bluegills, crappies and sun fish.
Pappakeechie Lake - Just across the road on the south from
Lake Wawasee, Pappakeechie covers 210 acres with a muck bottom,
maximum depth of 60 feet and average depth of 10 feet. Principal
game fish are large mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills, crappies,
perch and sun fish.
Pike Lakes - Big Pike Lake is located at the north edge
of Warsaw on 200 acres with a sand bottom, maximum depth of 50
feet and average depth of 20 feet. The City of Warsaw maintains
an excellent sandy beach and mobile camping facilities at one
edge of Big Pike Lake. Little Pike Lake is a mile and a half north
of Warsaw on 10 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 40
feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish on both
lakes include large-mouth bass, pike, walleyes, bluegills, crappies
and sun fish.
Reeds Lake - Three miles southwest of Pierceton, Reeds
Lake covers 12 acres with a marl bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet
and average depth of 12 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Ridinger Lake - One of the Barbee chain of lakes, Ridinger
covers 127 acres with a gravel bottom, maximum depth of 47 feet
and average depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large mouth
bass, small-mouth bass, bluegills and perch.
Rock Lake - Located five miles southwest of Silver Lake,
Rock Lake covers 60 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of
40 feet and average depth of 17 feet. Principal game fish are
large-mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills and crappies.
Sawmill Lake - Sawmill is one of the Barbee chain and covers
30 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 35 feet and average
depth of 16 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills,
perch and crappies.
Sechrist Lake - Deepest of the Barbee chain, Sechrist Lake
covers 85 acres with a sand bottom, maximum depth of 70 feet and
average depth of 35 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, small-mouth bass, pike, bluegills, perch and crappies.
Sellers Lake - North of Sidney, Sellers Lake covers 50
acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 45 feet and average
depth of 16 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills,
crappies and sun fish.
Shock Lake - Three miles north of North Webster, Shock
Lake covers 25 acres with a gravel bottom, maximum depth of 90
feet and average depth of 40 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, bluegills, perch and crappies.
Shoe Lake - Among the lakes in the Barbee chain, Shoe Lake
covers 40 acres with a gravel bottom, maximum depth of 55 feet.
Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills, perch and
sun fish.
Sickle Lake - Located four miles southwest of Warsaw, Sickle
Lake covers five acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 20
feet and average depth of 10 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Silver Lake - One mile northwest of the town of Silver
Lake, the lake covers 110 acres with a marl bottom, maximum depth
of 45 feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are
large-mouth bass, rock bass, bluegills and crappies.
Spear Lake - Located five miles northeast of North Webster,
Spear Lake covers 18 acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of
45 feet and average depth of 25 feet. Principal game fish are
large mouth bass, bluegills, perch and crappies.
Stafford Lake - Six miles southeast of Warsaw, Stafford
Lake covers 22 acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 41 feet
and average depth of 18 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills and crappies.
Stanton Lake - A mile east of Oswego, Stanton Lake covers
15 acres with a gravel bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average
depth of 18 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills
and crappies.
Stevens Lake - Located between Johnson and Stoller Lakes
three miles southwest of Pierceton, Stevens Lake covers 20 acres
with a mud and muck bottom, maximum depth of 52 feet and average
depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, rock
bass, bluegills and sunfish.
Stoller Lake - Seven miles southeast of Warsaw, Stoller
Lake covers seven acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 42
feet and average depth of 20 feet. Principal, game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, bluegills and crappies.
Syracuse Lake - Located at Syracuse and connected by a
channel to Lake Wawasee, Syracuse Lake covers 40 acres with a
marl bottom, maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 20
feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass,
pike, walleyes, bluegills, perch, crappies and sun fish.
Tennant Lake - Three miles north of Sidney, Tennant Lake
covers five acres with a muck bottom, maximum depth of 30 feet
and average depth of 15 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Tibbits Lake - Located three and one half miles northeast
of Claypool, Tibbits Lake covers seven acres with a muck bottom,
maximum depth of 40 feet and average depth of 15 feet. Principal
game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Tippecanoe Lake - Covering 987 acres between Oswego and
North Webster, Tippecanoe Lake has a sand bottom, maximum depth
of 121 feet and average depth of 40 feet. Principal game fish
are large-mouth bass, small-mouth bass, pike, walleyes, bluegills,
perch, crappies and sun fish. Connected to the Barbee chain by
a stream, the Tippecanoe River is the lake's outlet.
Twin Lakes - Three miles northeast of North Webster, Twin
Lakes cover six acres and both have mud bottoms. Maximum depth
of the lakes is 40 feet with an average depth of 20 feet. Principal
game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills and sun fish.
Waubee Lake - A mile southeast of Milford, Waubee Lake
is sometimes referred to as Milford Lake. It covers 200 acres
with a marl bottom, maximum depth of 75 feet and average depth
of 30 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth bass, bluegills,
crappies and sun fish.
Webster Lake - Located at North Webster and site of Epworth
Forest operated by the United Methodist Church. Webster Lake covers
540 acres with a sand and gravel bottom, maximum depth of 60 feet
and average depth of 20 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, small-mouth bass, pike, walleyes, bluegills, crappies, perch
and sun fish.
Willets Lake - Five miles north of Atwood, Willets Lake
covers 38 acres with a mud bottom, maximum depth of 27 feet and
average depth of 10 feet. Principal game fish are large-mouth
bass, rock bass, bluegills and crappies.
Winona Lake - Bordered by the town of Winona Lake and Warsaw,
the lake covers 478 acres with a marl bottom, maximum depth of
80 feet and average depth of 12 feet. Principal game fish are
large-mouth bass, rock bass, pike, bluegills, perch, crappies
and sun fish. Adjoining Winona Lake is a smaller body of water
known as Little Winona Lake, covering 60 acres. The maximum depth
of Little Winona is 35 feet, and the average depth is 22 feet.
Principal game fish are basically the same as those in the larger
lake.
